Tickets are now available for The Sweet at Rock City!
The Sweet were creating bubblegum melodies and fuzzy guitars throughout the 70s – like no other. Dressing like a heavy metal band but bringing all the pop energy of that era. Essentially this created a plethora of hits, both in the UK and US. One of the pioneers for British Glam Rock, they created a scene which had all the vibes of T.Rex, Queen and Gary Glitter – but it was radio-friendly.
Their music created hits which have lasted and remain iconic songs of the UK to this day.
Band Members

In 1971 they were signed to RCA Records where Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman guided the band with songwriting. Of these, ‘Funny, Funny’ reached number 13 in the UK charts. They had 5 more top 40 songs, including: ‘Little Willy’, ‘Ballroom Blitz’, ‘Teenage Rampage’ and ‘Wig-Wam Bam’. The band wrote heavier songs with a neo-glam rock approach, including ‘Blockbuster’ which went on to become their biggest hit to date. It made number 1 in the 1973 UK charts and in due course going platinum.
