Based near Texas, singer/songwriter Ryan Hamilton released his first solo album, the critically acclaimed ‘Hell of a Day’, in 2015. Before, Ryan had experienced success across North America and Canada with former band Smile Smile.
2017 saw the first release under name ‘Ryan Hamilton and the Traitors’ – with the album ‘the Devil’s In The Detail’. They signed to Stevie Van Zandt’s ‘Wicked Cool’ label in June 2018. Shortly after, he band underwent a name change to Ryan Hamilton and the Harlequin Ghosts. 2019 singles ‘Mamacita’ and ‘This Is The Sound’ were play-listed on over 100 UK radio stations. They were also syndicated across the US and South America. Earlier in 2019 Ryan and the band completed a West Coast tour of the US.
By personal invitation, Ryan played Adam Duritz’ (Counting Crows) ‘Underwater Sunshine’ festival in NYC. Also The Alarm’s Gathering festival in both Wales and NYC. Mike Peters of The Alarm has said of Ryan: “this young man is the future of rock n’roll.” Debut album under the new band name ‘This Is The Sound’ was released on Wicked Cool May 2019 with the follow-up recorded & coming later in 2020. In April 2020 ‘This Is The Sound’ won an Independent Music Award for Album of the Year.
With a summer of festivals in 2020 postponed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Ryan recorded his ‘Incommunicado’ covers EP on lockdown in Texas. Upon release it went straight to Number 1 on the UK iTunes Country chart.
