Announce New Album ‘So that you might hear me’

‘So that you might hear me’ was recorded at several studios in Seattle with the producer Phil Ek (The Shins, Fleet Foxes, Father John Misty) and was mixed by Craig Silvey (Arcade Fire, Metronomy). A need for connection lies at the heart of the band’s third album. Both bold and exposed, intimate yet expansive, the first two tracks are a perfect example of this: ‘Fuel On The Fire’ pulses and blossoms from the visceral throb of drum machine beats and electric guitars into an orchestral beauty that showcases the more electronic side of the band. This is juxtaposed with the bewitching “Blankets Of Sorrow” that demonstrates the more intimate Bear’s Den sound and explores themes of familial love and of trying to reach someone who can no longer be reached. With the band beloved by their fans for the way their songs have woven themselves into the fabric of some of the most bittersweet chapters of their lives, ‘So that you might hear me’ continues in that vein, pairing soaring melodies with poignant and at times unsettlingly personal lyricism.

So that you might hear me’ is the follow-up to 2014’s ‘Islands’, which earned them an Ivor Novello nomination, and 2016’s more expansive ‘Red Earth & Pouring Rain’, which reached number six in the UK chart. The band have sold almost 500,000 records over the course of their career, with ‘Red Earth & Pouring Rain’ seeing them cap four years of non-stop touring selling a total of 100,000 tickets across Europe which included two glorious sold-out homecoming shows at Brixton Academy and Hammersmith Apollo.

Bear’s Den today reveal Dew On The Vine, the new single to be taken from their Top 10 album, Red Earth & Pouring Rain. The group are shortly to embark on their biggest UK tour to date, with sold out shows including Brixton Academy on 8th November, and today announce a new European tour for spring 2017, culminating in their recently announced show at Hammersmith Eventim Apollo on 5th April. Tickets for the new spring dates go on sale this week.

The video for Dew On The Vine, also released today, was directed by Louis Bhose and features band and crew in a Fight Club-inspired ping pong tournament that may or may not be representative of their real-life life on the road: Watch it HERE.

Red Earth & Pouring Rain is the follow up to Bear’s Den’s Ivor Novello-nominated 2014 debut, Islands, and sees a group taking huge leaps forward to become another great success story of a British band breaking through. Their 2014 debut, Islands, had been a true slow burning success over an 18 month period, with the band building a huge fanbase through consistently stellar live shows and huge airplay for the singles, Agape, and the Ivor Novello-nominated Above The Clouds of Pompeii.

As well as its UK success, Red Earth & Pouring Rain is off to a flying start internationally, with Top 10 chartings in Holland (#5) and Belgium (#9) as well as a Top 30 debut in Germany (#26). The band’s recent US headline tour also sold out in its entirety.

BANFI Banfi is Joe Banfi, Aaron Graham and Chris McCuaig. Making spiky, dramatic pop music, Banfi’s first official shot across the bows ‘Where We Part’ was posted on Soundcloud in April 2015, which led to the band signing with Communion Records. 2016 has been spent in the studio recording their debut album with producer Richard Wilkinson (Bombay Bicycle Club, Honne, Kaiser Chiefs) and the first release from these sessions, Happy When You Go, is out now! ‘Happy When You Go’ is a delicious earworm of a debut single, with its layers of guitar-inflected pop blending with bittersweet straight-talking lyrics. Banfi’s irresistible hooks and choruses take influence from left-field pop acts including Alt-J and The Knife as well as the minimal mathletics of Foals and the huge stagecraft of The Police. “The energy of The Police that is found in their live performance it’s something we want to try and put across.” said Joe. Joe first came to the attention of Communion in 2012 off the back of an unsolicited solo demo. He released two EPs in 2013 – championed by Zane Lowe, John Kennedy and Mary Anne Hobbs, these acclaimed EPs were a distinctive hybrid of Joe’s influences from Nick Drake to the Deftones. Emboldened by critical acclaim, Joe went away to write and develop as an artist, and along with bandmates Aaron and Chris, Banfi was born. Banfi have performed support slots with Bear’s Den, Nathaniel Rateliff and Amber Run, as well as numerous festival appearances including Citadel, Great Escape and Bushstock.
