Tickets are now available for Do Nothing at Rock City!
Nottingham based four piece Do Nothing is made up of vocalist Chris Bailey, guitarist Kasper Sandstrom, bassist Charles Howarth and Andrew Harrison on drums.
Their sound is equal parts Roxy–esque art rock and Ze/Celluloid records no wave. Do Nothing songs are characterized by the acerbic lyricism of vocalist Chris Bailey where every song feels like its own self–contained psycho drama.
Listening to their latest single “Gangs” at times is like walking into a very busy and very loud pub and over hearing snatches of confused and bitter conversations “wait a minute this isn’t my house” says one person “who can eat at a time like this?” says another.
Headlining their hometown this September, four-piece art-rock band Do Nothing are at the top of their game and only getting better. A mix of post-punk and off-beat new wave with lyricism from frontman Chris Bailey. They’ve been compared to The likes of Grizzly Bear, Interpol and Parquet Courts.
After their debut single ‘Waitress’ was released in 2018 it paved the way for their support of other musicians. Such as going on tour with ‘Willie J Healey’ and ‘Kagoule’ in the UK, then ‘Baby In Vain’ in Europe.
Latest Music
Their latest release is single ‘Happy Feet’ which is the first release since their EP ‘Glueland’ in 2021. DIY Magazine says ‘Glueland’ “shows that Do Nothing are far from just a live act. ‘Great White Way’, an animated and funky closing cut that sees the band gel as a unit with punchy finesse. Leaving you thirsty for more”. Since then, new track ‘Happy Feet’ has won fans new and alike, radio 6 play the tune constantly too.
The music video is directed by Luke Ainger and follows the playful yet surreal vibe of the tune. Chris Bailey says “[The lyric] ‘I put a leaflet in your bag for you to find later and burn’ is sort of a play on the idea that when you make music, you put it out in the world because you want people to hear it. It’s meant to be this pure expression of something, but there’s always that element of wanting people to like it.”
