Tickets are now available to see Graphic Nature at Rock City (Beta)!
Nu-metal five piece band Graphic Nature take inspiration for their name from the Deftones album ‘Koi No Yokan’. The explosive sound influence comes from bands like Slipknot, Limp Bizkit and Korn, introducing vocalist Harvey Freeman to the world of heavy music.
Influences don’t stop at other musicians however, Freeman takes deep inspiration from his love for video games. Saying “in terms of soundtracks and the influence they have on our music, I love everything Square Enix does,” Harvey says. “Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts are two big ones for me – there’s no lyrics, but I love how they still punch you right in the feels. I can listen to metal all day, but it’s often only when I take in the more instrumental side of things that my creativity really flourishes.”
Their latest EP release ‘Headstone’ infuses melodically atmospheric notes with unflinching talks of mental health, neurodiveristy and managing emotions. Freeman says the track ‘White Noise’ draws inspiration from his personal experience with ADHD. Referencing living with a neurodiverse brain that is easily overwhelmed and often leads to panic attacks.
‘Twisted Fear’ is “a dark one” he says “when people hear it, they’ll be able to speak about their feelings”. Mixing a hardcore genre with such comforting lyrics is a poetic move not all can achieve, but Graphic Nature have.
They’ve been dubbed by Kerrang! as being the ‘hotly-tipped metal newcomers’.
