“It was always going to make sense that we finish up this world tour on home turf, back where we started all those months ago. We’ll be looking forward to it, I’m sure. I’m particularly looking forward to the Roundhouse show myself, having never played at that venerable venue previously where so many greats have played. I’m sure it’ll be an emotional and epic night. As will all the dates.
It is great to go around the world and play to different audiences from different cultures and we have enjoyed some wonderful experiences doing so over the last year, with tons more to come I’m hoping in Europe in the Spring and North America in early Autumn. That said though, there is nothing quite like playing to our home crowd and understanding the barracking they give us. When I understand what they’re shouting at us I can reply in kind, unlike in foreign climes where I just assume everybody is shouting ‘we love you, Wayne!’ Perhaps they’re not but that’s how I prefer to hear it. All joking aside I can’t think of a better way to finish this chapter of the band’s story than playing these UK shows, and to end it at the Roundhouse, a venue we have never played in the 37 years of our existence, somehow seems fitting.”
The Mission, formed in 1986, are a bestselling gothic rock band from Leeds signed with Universal. Current band members are Wayne Hussey (guitars, vocals, keyboard), Craig Adams (bass), Simon Hinkler (guitar, keyboard) and Mike Kelly (drums). They will be coming to Nottingham as part of their anticipated Deva Vu 2023 tour.
Their single ‘Stay With Me’ off the album ‘Gods Own Medicine’ hit the Uk top 30 immediately, the album hitting number 14. The chart-stoppers didn’t stop here, they also had a further 13 hit singles such as ‘Wasteland’, ‘Beyond The Pale’ and ‘Butterfly On A Wheel’.
Dubbed as one of the best and most exciting live bands in the world, you can’t miss this! They sold out seven consecutive shows at the Astoria theatre in London, as well as headlining Reading Festival twice. U2, The Cure, Robert Plant and Alice Cooper are to name a few of the people they’ve played with.
What people are saying
Another Fall From Grace is a striking reminder of The Mission’s strengths. For a band celebrating their 30th anniversary, it shows there’s still plenty of life left in them yet. To quote Met-Amor-Phosis: “with age comes change.” It’s an older and wiser Mission for sure, but they’ve tapped into a musical fountain of youth.

Entering the darkened stage in a sea of dry ice, Wayne Hussey’s stage presence is a sight to behold. The sing-a-long from the crowd is obligatory but it’s also testament to how great The Mission have become. A truly magnificent performance.
