The epic Future Sound of Nottingham returns on Sunday 3rd July for another jam-packed evening to celebrate the best musical talent Nottinghamshire has to offer! Having whittled all the entrants down to just 9 finalists, they will all play on Sunday to the judges and an audience vote, with the champ not only winning the crown but also going on to play Splendour Festival! We had a chat with Chloe Dring ahead of the event, and invited her in to have a look at Rock City before it gets busy!
Hi Chloe! So you’re a solo artist, will you be performing solo on Sunday?
On Sunday I’ll be bringing a guitarist and drummer with me from my school! They’re incredible and it just gives a totally different feeling to a performance to have others on stage with me.
Nice! So when did you start writing your own music?
I’ve always sung when I was younger, but it was about 4 years ago when I started writing my own music. Writing is probably one of the best bits of being a singer, nothing compares to how rewarding it is to perform something that you’ve created just out of your own mind.
Very true! So do you have any influences, maybe someone you’ve seen at Rock City?
I’ve never actually been to rock city before this competition, so will be a totally new experience! But I’ve heard all about how legendary the Rock City stage is!
Oh wow! Well hopefully Sunday will be awesome! And looking to the future, what’s the plan after Sunday, do you have any new music coming out?
I’ve got my first EP coming out soon, but until then I’ll be releasing some more singles. It’s my first big project so I’m really proud of it and cant wait for everyone to hear it.
The FSN winner will get to play at Splendour Festival! If you could perform with anyone at this year’s festival, who would it be?
Good shout! Nice to meet you and good luck for Sunday!!
