The Stranglers live at Rock City
Punks not dead – with bands like The Stranglers, The Buzzcocks and Stiff Little Fingers (the latter are playing rock city on 26th March) having never sold out, still touring and all still making music – proves the point.
They still sell records and gig tickets not time and butter.
The Stranglers took to the stage welcomed by life long fans. After a bit of a microphone issue during the first song the set got properly going. The aging punks got the best reactions out of the classics like Peaches and Golden Brown although tracks off of their new album ‘Giants’ which was released the day before the gig got great reactions to but it has to be said there is nothing quite like a room full of nearly 2000 people all chanting their hearts out… “never a frown… with golden brown”. It certainly sends shivers down your spine and put a big smile on everybody’s face; even those on stage.
The second encore ended with their famous cover of The Kinks tune ‘All Day and All of the Night’ which whipped the audience up into a frenzy and made sure everybody left with a buzz.
